Jessica Merryfield
Head of Policy and Campaigns, ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ
Jessica is a Chartered Trading Standards Practitioner (CTSP) and ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Trainer with more than twenty years' experience in regulatory roles across public and private sectors.
Jessica joined ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ as Head of Policy and Campaigns (April 2024) - leading efforts to influence consumer protection policy. She holds qualifications in both Environmental Health and Trading Standards - a UK first. Passionate about training and mentoring, especially in food safety and standards. Outside work, Jessica is a Christian and trainee preacher, driven by fairness and social justice.
Additional Information
Jessica graduated with a degree in Environmental Health, before making the switch to Trading Standards, and was awarded the Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) by ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ. It is believed that Jessica is the first person in the history of both the UK Environmental Health and Trading Standards professions to hold both qualifications.
She is a firm believer in the value of education and training, having received exceptional training and mentoring herself, and uses her experiences as the regulator and the regulated to share with, and benefit, others. She has also spent many years training and mentoring those interested in regulatory professions, with her passion and expertise being found in food safety and standards.
Away from work, Jessica is a Christian and trainee local preacher, with a strong sense of fairness and social justice. Her faith has been instrumental in guiding her to the career she has enjoyed to date, using her knowledge and skills to bring the biggest benefit to as many as possible.
