Food Regulation Training Modules
Our Food Regulation training modules - which consist of a series of 4-hour Live Webinars, covering each of the core areas of Food RegulationÌý- are an integral part of our 6-month, in-depth Business Certificate of Competency in Food Regulation (BCCFR) Training Course.
The modules are also now available to book for people not attending the full BCCFR Course (see below).
Sector-based Modular Programme
Each of our Food Regulation modules consists of a Live Online SessionÌý- conducted over 4 hours (plus additional time for breaks and lunch) - with one of our Food RegulationÌýexperts (see our Presenter Profiles). Attendance at a number of these modules (you will be asked to select those most relevant to your career and experience) is an integral part of the BCCFRÌýtraining programme - and is necessary to secure the final certification.
For those not attending the full BCCFRÌýcertification course, these modules are available to book separately or in multiples, with each costing £250 + VAT per module. Available Modules and Booking Information :
Module 01: Regulated Foods
Module Summary: Food regulation continues to evolve, with increasing complexity across areas such as additives, flavourings, GMOs, food contact materials, and novel foods. This four-hour webinar provides a practical, expert-led overview of the legal frameworks that govern these regulated food categories - and how to apply them with confidence.
Module 02: Compositional Standards in Food
Module Summary: This session provides a detailed exploration of the key compositional standards that apply to food and drink in the UK, with a focus on practical understanding for industry professionals. Participants will learn the purpose of compositional standards, how they are applied across different categories, and the implications of divergence between UK and EU requirements.
Module 03: Import/Export of Foods
Module Summary: The objective of this training is to update candidates’ knowledge in respect of the controls relating to imported and exported Agrifood products between GB, the EU and wider, and signpost to relevant resources and references.
Module 04: Nutrition and Health Claims
Module Summary: An overall theme will be legal compliance versus commercial requirements (e.g. labelling/marketing challenges) where the focus is/should be on consumer protection. We will look at topical issues (as they emerge in 2025/2026) such as naming products as 'probiotics' which some argue should be permitted as a health claim or as a category of foods.
Module 05: Food Supplements
Module Summary: This session offers a practical guide to navigating food supplement legislation in the UK, providing an overview of the UK regulatory framework for food supplements, beginning with the legal definition of food supplements and key legislation, including post-Brexit changes.
