Conducting an investigation is a serious and complex process that can have significant repercussions for all parties if not done properly. This training looks at the investigative process and understanding the value of intelligence.

To provide participants with an overview of the investigative process. Join Stephen Mogg, a highly skilled law enforcement trainer for this 2-hour online course.

At the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Explain the duty to investigate under PACE
  • Outline the main lines of investigation and investigative strategy
  • Understand what is meant by reasonable lines of investigation
  • Describe investigation models
  • Explain the Investigator's mind-set
  • Understand how to link victims, locations and suspects
  • Explain the rationale for recording actions and decisions
  • Pocket note-book rules
  • Understand the value of intelligence in investigations
  • Identify types of witness
  • Describe R - v - Turnbull (Identification)
  • Understand the importance of Disclosure (CPIA)
